Your celebrant led wedding ceremony is NOT legally binding, which is why you will need to make plans to visit your local Register Office, with your witnesses. Many arrange their 'legals' weeks, sometimes months ahead of their chosen Celebration Day.
The ‘statutory marriage ceremony’ is quick and inexpensive and can take place at any Register Office in England. The registration of marriage costs £57 - that’s £46 plus £11 for your legal marriage certificate. By law, all councils in England and Wales have to offer the £46 ‘statutory marriage ceremony’.
